Referring someone to WalkTheTalk

Our groups are free, peer-led and available for any adult in the UK. There’s no need for a formal ‘referral’ but here’s how you can help someone join our groups:

  • Signpost them to our website
  • Hand out leaflets and put up posters
  • Share our podcast

Like to speak to someone?

We’re happy to chat with you or your referee before joining if it’s helpful. This might help you both feel comfortable that or groups are the right fit. We actively work with charities, social prescribers and primary care networks/GPs. If you’d like to learn more, have us speak or put up posters, please email hello@walkthetalk.org.uk.

Who’s suitable for our groups?

Our groups welcome anyone experiencing social anxiety. For some, it’s an inconvenience and for others it’s a life-altering condition. All are welcome. There are several reasons why we might not be a good fit, though, namely those with:

  • Severe depression or bipolar disorder
  • A personality disorder
  • Experience of psychosis

Things to consider

  • We are not a replacement for therapy
  • You must be 18+ to participate
  • Sessions are confidential and peer-run
  • Our groups blend peer support with a CBT approach. If you are neurodivergent you may not find the CBT aspect suitable but you are more than welcome to join and we hope you’ll find the peer support element beneficial
  • We’re not a crisis service

Should you feel unable to keep yourself safe at any point please call NHS 111, the Samaritans on 116 123 or text SHOUT to 85258. Please call 999 in an emergency situation. *Mind have prepared some online resources too.
